Frozen Jr. Audition information

Students must prepare a monologue from below, preferably memorized.
Students may also prepare a solo (up to one minute) from a Frozen song. Any student who would like a solo-singing role needs to sing. Youtube is an excellent resource for learning songs. Additionally, students may share another song of their choice if they would like
Audition Monologue Sides
Kristoff
The name’s Kristoff, and I’m an ice harvester. I mean, a recently unemployed ice harvester thanks to the princess who went all ice-crazy and ruined my business. With the storm coming from the North Mountain, which is where I’m guessing Elsa fled. I can get you up there…without dying – I mean, if you want my help.
Anna
I’m Princess Anna. But you don’t have to bow – I’m not that princess. My sister Elsa is the Queen. I’m just me. I mean, I’m not the heir, I’m just the spare. (feeling foolish) Forget it! I’m not making any sense. How embarrassing. And of course, you are Hans of the Southern Isles.
Elsa just left me alone again. Like she did for years. It's okay, I'm used to it. She stopped talking to me when we were little. I don't know why. I could never figure out what I did.
Young ANNA
I love sleeping. Goodnight! They're gone! It's just us! Snowman. Snowman. Snowman!!! But the sky's awake, so I'm awake, so we have to play! You know, there's a recipe to making a proper snowman.
Elsa
I never knew I could create something like this. Mother and Father didn’t want you to know about my magic for your own safety. Anna, I almost killed you when you were six. And now, we are no longer children and my powers are even stronger now. You should probably go now, please. (getting more anxious) I am trying to protect you Anna – go back to Arendelle.
Young ELSA
Goodnight! We're supposed to be sleeping. Okay, okay. You know, there's a recipe to making a proper snowman. "Hi, I'm Olaf, and I like warm hugs." Ok, time for bed. Anna, you know I'm not supposed to use my magic.
Hans
What the queen’s motives are, I cannot say. But I can assure you Anna is pure and noble. I know this because I am the prince in charge of Arendelle and will protect it from treason.
Olaf (choose one)
Summer? I don’t know why but I’ve always loved the idea of summer, and sun, and all things hot. Sometimes I like to close my eyes and imagine what it’s be like when summer does come!
OLAF
Okay. Let's start this thing over. Hi everyone, I'm Olaf, and I like warm hugs. And who's the funky-looking donkey? Ah-huh. And who's the reindeer? Oh good. They're both Sven. Makes it easier for me. And you're Anna.
Weselton
Weselton! The Duke of Weselton. Your Majesty, as your most profitable trading partner, it' about time we met face to face. And what a wonderful face you have. With some queens, what you get is what you get. But you are a model queen.
Oaken
Yoo hoo! I am Oaken, from Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna. And today is lucky for you! We are offering a Big Summer Blow-Out sale!
Queen Iduna/King Agnarr
Elsa. What have you done? Her skin is ice. We need the Hidden Folk of the mountains. They have healing powers! We must call out for them quickly!
Pabbie/Bulda
What is this? Another magic strike?! Why did you not tell me? Anna, there is ice in our heart, put there by your sister. If not removed quickly, to solid ice will you freeze, forever. If it was her head, we would remove it, but the heart does not so easily let go of its pain. Only an act of true love can thaw a broken heart.
Townsperson, Castle Staff and other Ensemble Roles
Prince Hans, the temperature is dropping! Princess Anna has been gone too long. We must go out and find her – now!
Students not auditioning for solo or speaking parts will sing together should fill out the audition form, even if not making a video.
Some audition tips:
• You might consider asking a piano-player (student) to play your first pitch just before your audition if you are singing a cappella.
• Try not to apologize, it can show a lack of confidence, which is opposite what you want to present. Apologies include "I have a cold," or "I usually sound better."
• Try to act and be the character even when you are singing.
• Choose a song that best shows your singing ability. It does not have to be from this show.
• Try practicing in front of a mirror or family members or friends.

Great tips for marking and highlighting a script
Use one color for lines
Use another color for stage directions
Use pencil to write notes for yourself during rehearsal
Consider using tabs for song and scenes to quickly find pages during rehearsals
