8th Grade Performance

Performance week schedule:

Wednesday, December 18 2:30-5:30 dress rehearsal (8B 2:30-4:00, 8F 4:15-5:30)

Thursday, December 19 performances

8:30am 8B

1:00pm 8F

6:00pm 8B

7:30pm 8F

Some students will act as crew for the opposite class. They should know who they are and should plan to attend both rehearsals and both performances. Also, some students will be singing with both classes. Any student not singing with both or acting as crew should not attend both rehearsals.

Tomorrow, Dec. 18, students who have a cast shirt may wear it after mass, over the uniform. Those students may also wear it on Thursday between performances.

I really need another adult or two to be present during dress rehearsals if possible. Please let me know if you can assist in this way.

Also, please let me know if you would be interested in helping type up the program for the performances on Thursday.

Thank you so much

Mr. Frazier

Character

Costume

Ebenezer Scrooge

You can dress as Scrooge the business man by wearing a suit with a tophat. Tails would be preferred. However, it is more popular to dress as Scrooge does when the ghosts arrive—in a nightgown and slippers.

Tiny Tim

Carry a crutch and wear a battered vest and flat cap. Dark, worn pants and a dingy button down shirt.

Jacob Marley

Dress much like Scrooge in business attire, with tophat. Wear ghostly bandages and heavy chains. (we will provide the chains)

The Ghost of Christmas Past

For this costume, you want your head to appear as though it's glowing. Wear a cap over a few glow sticks. You should also have a white, flowing costume. You might find a good ghost costume after Halloween to adapt.

The Ghost of Christmas Present

Wear a green robe. Any Christmassy decorations are a plus.

The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come

Wear a hooded black robe, similar to Grim Reaper.

Belle

Wear a beautiful Victorian dress.

Bob Cratchit

Wear shabby clothing and a mild demeanor. Worn out dress pants and dingy button down shirt with vest.

Peter Cratchit

Wear a stiff-collared shirt, vest, and dingy pants.

Martha Cratchit

This is a fun one—Martha designs, makes, and sells hats, so that can be a defining element of her costume. She should also wear a Victorian dress.

Mrs. Cratchit

Wear worn-looking Victorian clothing.

Storytellers

Wear a modern Christmas sweater. Please have a tophat, bonnet, and scarf for joining scenes.

Charles Dickens

Should dress much like Scrooge as a businessman. Consider a gray beard and a monocle.

Other characters

(Pockets, Moolah, Char Woman, Old Joe, Lucky Boy, Merry, Glee)

Boys should wear dark pants and white dress shirts, and add flat caps (children or poor folks) or top hats (rich folks)

Girls should wear a long skirt or dress (think Victorian)

All may add scarves, bonnets, etc. In general, if playing a young boy wear a flat cap. Adults should wear tophats. Women and girls should wear a bonnet.

Please let us know if you have fake Halloween chains or tombstones we could use, as well as Victorian-inspired Christmas decorations.

Thank you!
