It is open to everyone who would like to spend time reflecting on the sermon that has just been preached, talking generally about our Christian faith and having some input from Carol.

I hope to see you there. Please bring a friend!

Please note that the dates are not consecutive as there are other commitments in church life to fit around.

Norfolk Bike Ride 2024

Our church will be open on Saturday 14th September, as part of the 41st Norfolk Bike Ride & Walk, organised by the Norfolk Churches Trust.

Heritage Open Days 2024

St Mary Magdalene will be open for the public to visit on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September (10am-4pm) during Norfolk Heritage Open Days. We will be showing displays in church about both the heritage of our beautiful building and the history of the parish, which extends from the top of Mousehold Heath to Spencer Street, and down to the River Wensum and St James's Church (now the Puppet Theatre).

On display in the church will be examples of maps, photographs, documents, paintings and old drawings, some of which will be exhibited on loan from the Norfolk Record Office. We will have an exhibition about an exquisite medieval cope,  that was worn by past vicars of St James on special occasions until the 1970s, and which is going to be shown at the Castle Museum after the museum reopens later this year.

Visitors to St Mary Magdalene will able to view The Parish Film, a cine film made by the congregation in the 1950s. They will also have an opportunity to add their prayers to the new prayer tree, and find out about the modern life of our church. Volunteers will be at hand helping with refreshments, and welcoming and assisting people as they look around.

The 2024 Heritage Open Days brochure will become available in mid July. Tickets for other events go online on Monday 19th August, at 10.00am.

If you have memories of life in the parish you would like to share, or have items you would like to loan to us for the Heritage Open Days in September, please contact us and leave a message.
