A bit about Glee:

The sort of program we run is hard to explain without seeing and hearing it in action. What we can say is that Glee is a different sort of choir than most of us are used to.

The kids are the ones who guide our music selection -although we are known to sneak in a song or two from time to time! (We feel as though we'd have failed them if this generation never learned about The Tragically Hip.) Our singers learn modern music that THEY like (as well as a few tunes that will make their parents reminisce about days gone by...) We're known for including everything from Lizzo to Metalica, Imagine Dragons to Pearl Jam, Daft Punk to musical theatre like "Hamilton" and "Dear Evan Hansen" -and that's just the tip of the iceberg! Singers will have an opportunity to participate in the arrangements of some of our songs, and they'll even get to try their hand at songwriting!

At it's core, Glee is all about the music -but it’s as much about character development and community building as it is about the singing. At the beginning of each session, the groups brainstorm which charities they’d like to support with each of our two major benefit concerts that happen in December and June. We also have numerous performance opportunities that arise throughout the sessions. Some examples of our prior groups' performances include singing at Kiwanis Festivals, Canada 150 celebrations, parades, farmers markets, City Hall, regional and national competitions- we've even performed at Parliament Hill! We're always looking for ways to bring our music to the community with events big or small!

While Glee is primarily a large ensemble program, there will be occasional opportunities for those interested in solo, duet or small ensemble training and performance.
