Church Days of Fast/Abstinence
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days off for Catholics, 18-59 years of age. A Church day of fast is a day on which one eats only one full meal. Two lighter meals may be taken, but together they should not equal a full meal. Also, one abstains from eating between meals.
Ash Wednesday, all the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday are also days of abstinence for Catholics 14 years of age and older. A day of abstinence is a day on which one eats no meat.
The weekdays of Lent – no obligation to fast, but fasting in small ways is encouraged. Illness or poor health is always an excuse for fasting
Bishop Lucia has granted a dispensation from the obligation to abstain from meat on Friday, March 17, St. Patrick's Day.

Eucharistic Revival - "Save the Dates" Coming soon! Our 2023 Diocesan Lenten Retreat this year will focus on the Eucharist. The theme is "As I have done, so you should also do..." These words of Jesus, after he had washed the feet of the apostles at the Last Supper, inspire us to "connect" our experience of Eucharist to our call as disciples to serve others. On the evenings of March 13, 14, and 15, we will have Father Patrick Briscoe, OP, a Dominican priest and one of the National Eucharistic Preachers, as the presenter for our Diocesan Lenten Retreat at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception - and livestreamed by our Catholic TV office. More detailed information will be available soon.
MOVING? Please don’t forget to include the Parish office when notifying contacts of your new address & phone number. A phone call or a change of address card sent to the Church Office is much appreciated. Thank you.
Because of privacy laws we no longer receive calls from the hospital or nursing homes, unless you authorize it. If you would like to have a priest visit you or someone in your family who is in the hospital, call the parish office at 607-674-9625.
