Family Faith Formation

Dear Parents,

I hope this letter finds you all well! We know there has not been a very coherent faith formation program at St. Malachy’s this past year and many have left during this time. The past year and a half has been tough for many families and churches and communities including our own. However, we are looking at starting up our program once more for this school year.

You may or may not be aware that in the past few years St. Malachy’s has been using a family based program for faith formation, which is something many parishes in our diocese have gone to more recently. This program consists of the parents meeting with the priest altogether at the beginning of each month to go over the particular monthly lesson. At the end of the month the priest meets again with all the parents plus their children to recap the lesson and ask any questions. (We invite other parishioners who may not have children or whose children are grown and gone to join us in this class as well). During the rest of the month the parents would work directly with their children on the particular lesson. This encourages families to learn their faith together and respects the parents’ role in teaching their children their faith and love of Our Lord Jesus.

We will also include this form on our website www.stmalachysherburne.com. We will also put some of these forms out in the back of the church, which is open daily from 9am – 7pm.
