this is a context post. it's covering my conversation with who i will call x, the individual i'd approached regarding believing they'd lifted my graphic style. i'm now learning it's important to show how this initial interaction wasn't aggressive, wasn't outright accusatory, wasn't rude nor was it unfriendly even. seems it's been blown way out of proportion.
as you'll clearly see, with names blacked out for privacy as this has been handled and resolved and we've both moved on, i reach out to x regarding their new graphic overhaul. i initially had a friend reach out and show me, stating how similar they were to mine.
now, i'll go over the similarities shortly for clarification. but i ended up messaging x to express how uncomfortable it felt seeing a mutual, who i'd been mutuals with for approx. 2 months at this point ( we'd become mutuals mid august '23 ) suddenly change their graphic style from this:

i didn't know anyone else who used the single, stand alone character, the white outline in this manner, the small text, highlighted text like this:

when initially, prior to removing the text, x's graphic looked like this:
i'm sure you can see why it was concerning, and my genuine thought was "if this was intentional and they think they can get away with this, what else might they try and get away with?" i figured there was no use speculating and communicated. my messages are shown in grey, and x's are in the lighter grey. the date says the 7th as that's the date i screenshotted the convo, but this took place on the 6th ( of october ) as you'll see at the end of the messages it says "yesterday." the time is irrelevant in the bottom corner, as it's the time i took the screenshots not the actual convo.
now, x is immediately apologetic which is a red flag to me. largely because if someone suddenly started implying my graphics were intentionally designed to rip another's off, or that i'd lifted another style, i'd be pulling out all the evidence to show this isn't true or has been misunderstood somehow. i even go to great lengths to ensure my stuff doesn't look like other people's within the rpc. i would not be repeatedly saying sorry. still, x explains they got the inspo from a resource blog. including the white outline and the text. except i looked it up, and they don't look like what x had done.
the text is also entirely different to mine.

even if the font is similar, the inspo doesn't have coloured text. i tell x in the chat that i do not own any of these. this is important for the next post i make. at no point do i try to claim them as my own ideas, only that the combination of them as an entire style was my own idea.
i mean at this point i don't even care to go on about it because if you can't at least see the exactness between these two pictures, there's no point trying to explain anything. i explained to them that the problem wasn't using those things, it was positioning them and formatting them in a way far too similar to mine for my comfort, given their graphic style wasn't like this prior to following me.
there's no real outcome to this post, other than it being for context and a baseline for my next post which actually will be important to my situation. after this occurred, i switched up my graphic style again because i felt uncomfortable knowing someone could come even close to replicating it. i should reference that after this conversation, x blocked me. although they removed their promo, their carrd graphics were still up and i had no way of asking if they intended to remove them. after i think two days, i got frustrated and posted on my dash solely for my mutuals to explain what was happening and that i didn't want my mutuals to follow or support someone who i believed had intentionally lifted my graphic style or used it for inspo.
there seems to be confusion re: whether it was a callout, when in actual fact it was solely for my mutuals which was stated in the post's tags. tumblr won't let me add more pictures but i have it for proof if needed. i might remind that anarchy / pseudolife encouraged this blocking, which led to the post in the first place. anyway, this post is here to clarify some things re: me suspecting graphic theft / style lifting in relation to "x." considering nezemny and pseudolife didn't view it as that.
