The goal of the kindergarten music curriculum is to experience and identify high/low sounds, fast/slow, loud/quiet, steady beat, playing small instruments, and learning many folk songs. These students are not graded in music class.
Students receive one or two music classes a week. The goal of the 1st-5th music curriculum is to master instrument playing technique, read rhythm and notes on the staff, be able to perform with others in a group, and learn music terms. Students are graded as pass/fail.
Students receive one music class a week. Junior high music is project based. Some projects include Genres and Composer study. Students are graded on the following grading scale:
A = 100 – 92.5%
B = 92.4 – 84.5%
C = 84.4 – 74.5%
D = 74.4 – 69.5%
F = 69.4% or below
