Who Are We?
Reopened and rebranded by Elgin Presa and Katrina Antonio in August of 2020, Bridges Young Adult Ministry at St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish (Santa Clara, CA) hopes to be a community where young adults can continue their faith journey in what is considered a transitional time of their lives. While our ministry mainly focuses on young adults between the ages of 18-35 years of age, we welcome anyone who is seeking a place to openly explore our faith, participate in discussion, build community, and progress in their journey to grow closer to God.
Why "Bridges"?
Our ministry's mission originates from the verse Deuteronomy 31:8, which reads, "It is the Lord who goes before you; He will be with you and will never fail you or forsake you. So do not fear or be dismayed." Whether you are brand new to the Catholic Church, or you have been a Catholic since birth, we each have our own journey to embark on, but each of our journeys ultimately leads to our Lord Jesus Christ. And while we are all at different parts of our journey, some further along than others, we believe the Young Adult part of one's faith journey is particularly unique. As a young adult, you might be away from home and off at college, where your faith resources might be limited, or you might have found a disconnect in your age gap with the youth or more seasoned adults. It is for that reason that we see our ministry as a bridge; not only a bridge to connect us to God, but also to bridge the gap between the different ministries that cater to other age groups.
