As part of your child’s OCIA journey, we invite families to prayerfully select a sponsor who will support, encourage, and walk with them in faith. Sponsors play an important spiritual role, and the Church asks that they meet certain requirements to ensure they are able to serve as strong witnesses to the Catholic faith.
Please review the guidelines below before selecting a sponsor.
General Sponsor Requirements
Must be a fully initiated Catholic (Baptized, Confirmed, and has received First Holy Communion)
Must be practicing the Catholic faith and living a life consistent with Church teachings
A maximum of two (2) sponsors may be selected
If the sponsor is married:
Must be married in the Catholic Church

Copy of Marriage Certificate
Copy of Confirmation Certificate
If the sponsor is single:
Must not be living with a boyfriend, girlfriend, or partner
❗Required document:
Copy of Confirmation Certificate
All required documentation must be submitted in order for a sponsor to be approved.
