Why is there a cost?
Our goal is to be a self-sustaining ministry. All of the adults and teens that support this ministry are volunteers. All of the registration money goes to t-shirts, craft supplies, and snacks.
How old does my teen need to be to volunteer?
Teens need to be rising 8th graders. Exceptions for rising 7th graders can be made if both the 7th grader is mature enough AND the parent is also a volunteer. Teens can fill out the Volunteer Registration Google Form to sign up.
Service hours?
Volunteering at Vacation Bible School is a great way to earn service hours that can count toward Confirmation, York Catholic, and other organizations. Teens get credit for the pre-meeting on Sunday as well as prep and clean up time. Typically students earn between 12-14 hours for the week.
How do I sign up to volunteer?
Adults can volunteer through the Volunteer Registration Google Form. Adult volunteers will need a Diocesan badge to volunteer. Details on how to obtain a badge can be located here. Feel free to email eric.schlosser@yahoo.com if you have questions.
How young are the youngest students?
Students need to be at least 4 years old to participate.
Do I need to stay with my child?
VBS is a drop-off program. If your child really wants you to stay with them consider becoming a volunteer. :)
How are the groups set up?
The group names are named after the choirs of angels :) Cherubim, Seraphim, Angels, and Archangels
PreK and K students are in the Cherubim group.
1st Grade students are in the Seraphim group.
2nd and 3rd Grade students are in the Angels group.
4th, 5th, and 6th Grade students are in the Archangels group.
Can you provide a brief description of what happens at VBS?
Our overall goal is faith and fun.
We start the night with prayer and music.
Followed by some comic relief and then the Bible story for the night.
The students are grouped by age and go to a games station, a snack, and a craft station.
We gather in the church at the end of the night to talk about what we learned and end with more prayer and music.
I have a question that is not answered above
