Evangelism, Mission, and Outreach (EMO)
I was hungry, and you gave me food... I was a stranger, and you made me your guest... I needed clothes, and you provided them for me. (Matt. 25:35-36)
Evangelism, Mission and Outreach at St. James Episcopal Church aims to share our faith and love for God by seeking, inviting, forming, and maintaining relationships within our St. James community as well as the community in Mesilla Park, Las Cruces, and surrounding areas.
Our annual Outreach events include the Back to School Ice Cream Social with Mesilla Park Community School, a backpack and supply drive for the students at Mesilla Park Community School, Southern New Mexico Pride events, and Angel Tree with the Salvation Army. Many more events are in store for 2025 to celebrate our 150th anniversary. Check back for an updated list of events for this year.
We celebrate Jesus’ loving presence in the stories of all people and invite them to celebrate with us in all our events at St. James and out in the community. We are constantly seeking and accepting opportunities to lend a helping hand to those in our community. Feel free to reach out to us to participate in your community event.
El Caldito Soup Kitchen
Our mission at El Caldito is to provide a healthy meal daily, in a safe and clean environment, for any hungry person. Our vision at El Caldito is to continue to fight hunger by providing nutritious meals to our community until the need no longer exists.
St. James provides a crew to prepare and serve lunch on the fifth Tuesday of the months that have one. Please contact Phala White at (575) 639-3553, or the church office, for more information.
