Why is science important to you? Are you a scientist, educator, health professional, engineer, naturalist, student, or just a fan of science? Why Science? asks us all to reflect on the impacts of scientific research on our lives and share that story.
This simple question has a myriad of answers. As anti-science forces threaten science work, it is vital to share your story. Elevate your voice with a textile art piece that conveys the importance of scientific research.

Individually or collaboratively craft your story visually through crocheting, knitting, quilting, weaving, felting, embroidery or any other textile art.
Submit a maximum of three photos and a title and description of your work no later than November 25, 2026. View the submission page for the required information. Note that you can submit up to two works for the display.
Works will be included in a virtual display and participants of all ages and skill levels are invited to join us for an Online Zoom Celebration in December 2026.
In Person Meetups
There will be a meet-up at the AGU meeting Dec. 7-11, 2026 in San Francisco, CA, for those in attendance to share their work and discussion.
