There are plenty of software packages with which you can stick notes to the Windows desktop. Windows 11 even includes an accessory for adding desktop stickies. Yet, few of those apps enable you to stick notes to browser page tabs.

However, there are some sticky note extensions available for Google Chrome and Firefox. These add-ons enable you to stick notes directly to webpages. Then you can add handy reminders, shopping or task lists, or any other text-based note forms to specific pages. Here's how to add stickies in Chrome and Firefox with three alternative extensions.

Beanote is a note-taking extension for Chrome, with which you can add sticky notes and apply annotations to pages. It incorporates an additional text highlight feature, which is a useful addition. To install this extension, click the Add to Chrome button on the Beanote page linked below. Check out our guide for further details about how to install and manage Chrome extensions.

After installing Beanote, you can use it on a webpage straight away. Right-click an area of a page to add a note and select the Create Sticker Note context option. Then enter some text in the sticky note that appears.

Note Anywhere is another Chrome extension that enables you to add stickies to pages via the context menu, much the same as Beanote. However, this add-on includes some extra formatting and color options for notes. You can add this note-taking extension to Chrome from the Note Anywhere page linked at the end of this section.

If you want to delete the note or change its color, click the ellipses (three-dot) button at the top left of the sticky. Select one of the alternative colors on the bar. Or click the Delete option to remove the notification.

You can also select style options by clicking Settings on the Note Anywhere tab. Click the background, text, and bar background boxes to customize the colors for notes. Or select different options on the Font and Text Size drop-down menus. Click Save to apply your new sticky note settings.

The top-right corner of the sticky includes a couple of buttons. One is a tagging option, you can click to add a tag. The other is an ellipses' menu button that includes an Edit Color option. Click that option to select a different color for your note.

We have several pdf files on our website that contain Sticky Notes. We've received reports over the past several months that sticky notes are not always visible to web users, depending on what browser they are using. We've done some testing and it appears that they display fine with Internet Explorer, but not with Chrome. Is there any way to get the sticky notes to to display in Chrome? If not, what are the suggested alternatives for web users to view any markups we make to the documents? Unfortunately our engineering department will not revise the old versions of the pdf documents so that they contain the correct information (there are hundreds if not thousands of files). This is why we rely on the sticky notes. These notes usually contain corrected information, like a part number. We've had customers order the incorrect part because the could not see the correct information on the sticky note.

I've been using the notezilla for a month, just using the trial version of it (had to uninstall after that expired ). The only feature I like in a Notes app is to be able to stick notes on the desktop or on a certain window. At least on the desktop if not the window part, since it allows me to keep track of notes without having to open the app regularly.

As I said in my message, I want to stick my notes to desktop. Being able to see it on the desktop screen (when I press Win+D and it brings me to the desktop I should be seeing the notes there as sticky notes) and the next part of the message was about being able to stick those notes to different Windows (i.e. if I am running chrome, I can stick it to chrome windows only or any other window(s))

Damn, that sticky notes is the only feature I used to use Notezilla for. For some reason, OneNote never worked for me on my desktop. But if I am correct, all those other applications all have such a feature already, including Evernote and OneNote too.

I know exactly exactly the feature you are talking about from Notezilla. You can attach a note to any window and it will bring up the note if you ever open that window. . I believe it uses the window title name to keep track of with the sqlite or database.... So be it a web page, a word document or even a folder file, the post it/sticky note will pop up.

It is really nice because you can create a sticky note, "link " it to a window, ie a forum thread, and take some notes. If you ever return to that same thread, the post it note will just pop up like magic provided the window window title is unique. You can see what you wrote and also you can add to it.

There are a number of other sticky note applications that have this function. On my old pc I have a free application that does this, but I do not remember the name. This feature can be seen in the video on note zilla here: Windows: Attach sticky notes to Microsoft Word documents in Windows using Notezilla - YouTube

If there was a way to create a filesystem link, that opens a joplin note, you could likely make something like this work by placing a link to the joplin note on the pinned sticky note Are URL links on the roadmap?

With Google Keep, you can create color-coded notes that sync from Chrome to the Google Keep app for Android or for iOS. It's a Chrome app -- not an extension -- that runs in a separate window. For the Type-As with an affinity for color-coding, Keep lets you set background colors for your notes and add labels for easy sorting.

The bottom line: Google Keep has a slick design, but might have too many features for minimalists. But if you aren't afraid of color and want your notes synced with an iOS or Android app, it's a good choice.

To use the app, you'll need an account. Once you're signed up, you can sync notes with the WorkFlowy Android or iOS app. You can also share notes, add tags, mark items as complete and search by keyword.

initially I thought the addon for windows Chrome called Sticky notes would work and it does a little but as soon as you touch anywhere on the Actiontiles screen the Sticky Notes will disappear. Probably easier to work in a stay on top on windows fix I just have not figured it out yet.

Please describe the Feature you envision in much more detail -- "sticky note" can imply quite a lot of functionality and sub-features ... It would be super helpful if you start by describing the bare minimum that you you think would be valuable.

I think that one of the things the post it note app creators forgot is that the notes we leave on the fridge are usually for the whole family not always just for ourselves and there isn't anyway to have them appear right now on everyone in the families devices.

I would really like to be able to use Evernote notes like sticky notes in other apps such as Microsoft Stickies, Onenote, Google Keep, etc. If I could have a single Evernote note pinned to my Windows desktop, or my Android homescreen (new widget that displays just one note), that would be AMAZING.

Interesting idea... not a Windows or Android user, so not sure what you mean by pinning a note, but I typically have certain notes that I use a lot "pinned" in my chrome browser. I bookmark those notes in Chrome and often will open them and pin the tab, since I go back to them throughout the day.

I would love if this happens through Evernote itself. It's a way of eliminating the need for running different apps. I currently use stickies on Mac and I want Evernote to dominate my sticky notes as well

A properly small sticky with a bit of function that doesn't cost a lot of screen would be as desirable as much as I would then consider paying for this service. It hopefully runs in the background (probably serving as a stand alone addition to the app on mac) for it not to take a lot ram when you just need your sticky notes running in the background and not the whole application open.

Or wait for iOs 15. ,the incoiming new quick notes ; it should cover your needs for iPados (. For Windows , the Sticky Notes free app asllows you the freeze notes in the different screens as a really Post It)

In Sticky Notes version 3.0 and later, you can sign in to sync your notes so that you can see the same notes across apps and your favorite devices. Usually, these devices have a settings command or link you can use. Consult your device's documentation if you're aren't sure.

Android phone Your sticky notes appear with OneNote for Android phones. Open OneNote, and then on the bottom right, tap Sticky Notes. Visit the Google Play Store to install OneNote with Sticky Notes.

From the Android Home screen, slide from the left edge to see your feed, then flick down and tap Customize feed to add cards. Flick down again and turn on Sticky Notes to add to your feed.

As long as your favorite devices are signed in to the same Microsoft account, your sticky notes stay synced up so that you can see the same notes, everywhere. Sign in with the same Microsoft account to see your notes across your devices.
