Consulting & Feasibility Studies

Improperly designed trails tend to concentrate stormwater runoff within the trail, leading to erosion, sediment pollution and dangerous trail conditions. S&S can provide consulting services for all types of erosion control issues and help to manage stormwater so that it can again be considered a resource instead of a nuisance. Eric Konzelmann is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and a Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ). He also holds several other land management and inspection certifications. S&S can provide consulting and the planning necessary to help fix existing erosion issues on your local trail systems and can help design a new trail system.

S&S can provide feasibility studies for existing trail systems and newly proposed trails. We can help clients understand the long-term sustainability of their proposal, regulatory approvals, erosion controls and possible permits that may be necessary for their proposed project. We can provide trail management plans and work hands-on with local volunteers to show them necessary maintenance that may be needed on their trail systems. We can help clients prepare new Trail Proposals to gain necessary approvals from local landowners and land managers before any new trails can be constructed.

Our stormwater experts can design and construct best management practices (BMPs) to direct and treat stormwater runoff that results from land use changes such as new parking lots, recreation areas and trail systems. Whether it’s an existing trail system with erosion and stormwater management needs or a proposed trail system or associated parking lot with required stormwater management needs, we can be your one-stop-shop.

Hourly Services: Consulting rates start at $59/hr. for professional consulting services and could include other fees such as mileage reimbursement and fees for overnight stays if necessary. Professional services that require a written plan, response to regulatory agencies or permit acquisition start at $69/hr. Hours worked includes drive time to the site location.

Contracted Consulting Services (includes Feasibility Studies, Trail Maintenance Plans, New Trail Proposals, Stormwater BMP Design/Construction, etc.): Each individual project is unique and will require different levels of direct involvement.
