St. Vincent de Paul Society

About: VDP Society at Saint Henry Church provides assistance to parishioners and non-parishioners with a variety of needs. Staffed by members of Saint Henry and supported by a monthly collection at the church, and once a month food collections at the school, the local St. Vincent de Paul Society helps those in need with necessities such as food, utilities and rent.

St. Henry Room in the Inn

About: St. Henry Room in the Inn houses homeless guests at Saint Henry from the first Sunday night in November to the last Sunday night in March. Volunteers can help in any one of a number of ways: set up in the dining hall, drive vans, prepare dinners and sack lunches, spend the night as innkeepers, or clean up in the morning. Volunteers are always needed and welcomed!

Open Arms Ministry

About: Open Arms Ministry serves special needs young adults by pairing them up with a sponsor through the Catholic Church.

Family Reconciliation Center

About: Creates an environment where families can suppport one another and meet their emotional and spiritual needs through the crisis of the incarceration of a loved one. Services offered includ a guest-house where family members may stay while visiting a loved on in prison, a support group for adults as well as tutoring and special programs for children.

Heart of Mary House

About: Founded in 2022, Heart of Mary House is a nonprofit organization providing a safe, comfortable, and peaceful homelike setting for underserved individuals who have been given a terminal prognosis and have nowhere else to go. We believe that every person deserves a dignified end-of-life experience, yet many people face immense barriers to this. We exist to ensure that no one in the Middle Tennessee area spends their final days without the care, comfort, and respect they deserve.

Ladies of Charity

About: The Ladies of Charity is an organization of Catholic women who volunteer their time and talent in many areas of charitable work in the community. For over 119 years we hve been a beacon of hope for the needy. No exclusion is made with regard to religion, race or ethnicity of the people we serve. Our primary source of income is the operation of our volunteer consigment clothing sale. We provide scholarships to 4 girls to attend area Carholic high schools. Our welfare program assists with rent, utilities, and food assistance. We welcome any ladies to join our mission to "serve, rather than be served."

Matthew 25

About: Matthew 25 is a partner agency working with the United Way and Veterans Administration that provides a supportive and non-threatening environment, including counseling, room and board, and job assistance for up to eight months to men who make a commitment to remove themselves from the addiction that has made them homeless and unable to support themselves. Parish members and groups can assist by preparing dinner for 35 men one night, donating magazines, paperback books, bus tickets, supermarket gift certificates, durable men’s work clothes or supporting the job needs of an enrollee. This agency has shown itself to be very effective in accomplishing its mission.

McGruder Resource Center - Catholic Charities

About: McGruder Resource Center assists the most in-need of North Nashville. Volunteers provide home visitation, tutoring, help with finding employment, and assistance to the elderly.

Mulier Care

About: Mulier Care was founded in Nashville in 2013 as a 501c3 non-profit organization. We provide assistance to pregnant women facing crisis and unplanned pregnancies. We assist these women in their initial decision to make an informed choice for themselves and their children. We help women prepare to care for themselves and their children. Mulier Care means women’s care. In Pope Saint John Paul II’s Mulieris Dignitatem he explains the importance of women and encourages everyone to acknowledge and affirm the true genius of women. Our mission is to uphold the dignity of women and help them to become champions for their children.

❤️ Preston Taylor Ministries

About: PTM believes that for youth at-risk to overcome inherent obstacles, they need to be practicing connectedness by being connected to a caring adult, a positive peer group, a purpose, and educational opportunity. PTM offers a variety of programs to build connectedness including educational after-school programming for K-8th grade, one-on-one mentoring for students in K-12th grade, life-skills and leadership training for 6th-12th grade youth, and job development through job-shadowing, summer employment opportunities, and seminars and workshops. PTM also offers weekend retreats, field trips, campouts, and camp opportunities to further build the crucial positive peer groups and relationships with mentors needed to pursue healthy dreams. The result of these efforts is that children are equipped to have abundant life in the face of difficult circumstances.

Rejoice Ballet

About: Motivated by Christ's love, Rejoice School of Ballet empowers youth to realize their potential by training, nurturing, and celebrating dancers from diverse racial, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.

The Renewal House

About: The Renewal House recognizes that separating a mother, or mother-to-be from her children during addiction treatment is not effective. So, they keep the mother and her children together throughout the recovery process recognizing that this is effective for both the mother and the child in developing healthy and productive lives.

Room in the Inn - Main Campus

About: An interfaith agency for the homeless that supplies daycare, food stamps, and job and housing assistance.

Safe Haven

About: Safe Haven a shelter-to-housing program in middle Tennessee that accommodates families experiencing homelessness. They equip families with the resources and tools they need to achieve lasting self-sufficiency, stable employment and secured housing. Safe Haven supports about 300 families in a year. Safe Haven’s mission is to eliminate family homelessness in Middle Tennessee by making it rare, brief, and—most importantly—nonrecurring. They strive to ensure that no more than 5% of families who receive services return to homelessness within two years.

Room in the Inn - Main Campus

About: Senior Ride Nashville wants to foster a community that connects and empowers older adults. We believe that all people deserve access to transportation so they can live the life they want. We are confident that the best way to do this is to connect seniors who no longer drive with volunteers who do. Transportation is essential for daily activities like visiting friends and running errands. The Senior Ride Nashville program connects older adults (60+) with vetted volunteer drivers for multi-stop trips. Volunteering with this program offers a flexible way to enhance the community, allowing volunteers to match with ride requests based on their availability. St. Henry parishioners interested in volunteering must be at least 18, hold a valid driver’s license, have insured vehicles, and pass a background check. After a brief training session, they can start providing rides to appreciative seniors immediately.
