Budford Tower
Budford Tower is a historic fire rescue practice tower located in Austin, Texas. Its construction reflects an abandoned style of brick, wrought iron and shares an aesthetic with a time that has passed. Due to its unusual location on a sidewalk on the Colorado River in one of the largest cities in the world, it has strong surrealistic qualities. The artist hopes to leverage the unusually surrealistic nature of this structure by temporarily and safely attaching a large, lightweight foam braid on the side of the structure. The artist hopes to enhance this reference to the fairy tale "Rapunzel" by offering various tours of the structure itself and performance artworks which re contextualize this classic Grimm Brothers tale.
