Since elementary school, Caleb Diaz has been drawing with pencil and paper, his future initial goal to become a cartoonist. In Downey, California, Warren High School was Caleb’s first opportunity to get into animation in a classroom, and this passion continues into the two years at Cal State Long Beach. Caleb finally gained access to his own iPad to get into digital animation. For years, Caleb has only been doing art on paper, so this was a major step, but it also came with struggles with animation and mental health. Self-doubt and perfectionism became an issue for Caleb to continue with animation, as he believed that his art skills were not good enough, as well as understanding how time-consuming the practice is. Caleb decided to pursue a studio art degree to get into the comic industry with the new goal of making indie comics to present his imagination via drawings.
