I take the AgeLOC Nu Skin Lumispa for a spin to see if it left us radiant or red and bumpy in the face
You can say I’m lazy when it comes to skincare. Besides my holy grail of toner, moisturizer, and sunblock, any other step would be a chore already. Come to think of it, the most diligent I got with facial spas was only during our wedding preparation, and that’s it. Thank you. Goodbye.
Yet living the last of my 20’s, I can’t help but think about stepping up my regimen game. So when this box of LumiSpa came, I told myself I might as well try it since everything’s going downhill from here.
So, why are so many people talking about LumiSpa? What makes this electric facial cleansing brush so different from all the others available on the market? Are the benefits really as amazing as people say? If you find yourself reading this article, I can assume you’re wondering some of the same things as me about Nu Skin’s LumiSpa!

It’s been four years since I wrote this article, and to this day I still swear by the Nu Colour Curling Mascara, which just goes to show how satisfied I am with Nu Skin’s products! 😍
What is the LumiSpa from Nu Skin?
Quick answer : LumiSpa is a complete care device that cleanses the skin on your face. It can be used by both men and women.
Detailed answer : This pretty little device is both rechargeable and waterproof. Its counter-rotating head has been specifically designed to ensure maximum contact with your skin.
Why use silicone for a facial cleansing brush? Because this material is more hygienic than the bristles found on other facial brushes and is also easier to clean and replace.
LumiSpa’s patented Two-Sense Motion technology cleanses and revitalises skin. The precise frequency and movement of the device have been specifically designed to work with Nu Skin’s two specially formulated cleansers : Activating Cleansers and IdealEyes.
The ageLOC Nu Skin Lumispa is a rechargeable, waterproof, cordless electric cleansing device (that you can bring into the shower with you). It comes with two different silicon heads that rotate at different frequencies and directions so your skin gets cleansed and exfoliated.
The cleansing session lasts two minutes and the device would pause automatically every 30 seconds to prompt you to move on to another part of your face. If you are tugging at your skin, scrubbing too hard or using too much force and pressure, the cleansing device would also pause automatically. These silicon heads are intended to be less abrasive than bristles and are meant to get into your pores to allow for a deep clean. You can detach the silicon head to wash it and it lasts for about three months.
The road-test
I have many cleansers that I alternate depending on how my skin is feeling for the day. However, with this cleansing tool, it is recommended for you to use the ageLOC LumiSpa Activating Cleansers that are specifically formulated with the ageLOC LumiSpa device. They are designed to work synergistically with the counter-rotating motion of the heads to optimize distribution of anti-aging ingredients onto the skin while cleansing and exfoliating. That said, I did really like the cleanser I tried – the ageLOC LumiSpa Activating Cleanser (sensitive) that contains oat extract because it left my skin clean but not squeaky clean to the point where I felt like my natural oils were stripped off my face.
Even though the directions suggest using the tool twice a day (once in the morning and once at night), I wouldn’t suggest doing that especially if your skin is on the sensitive side because you don’t want to risk over-exfoliating your skin.
What are the benefits of LumiSpa?
There are so many ! The number one benefit is of course younger looking skin or maintaining your skin’s natural youthfulness if, like me, you start to use this product before signs of aging appear.

It got off my makeup
I’ve long been in the habit of using a toner on a cotton pad after cleansing to remove any remaining traces of makeup after I double cleanse at night ( with micellar water and a gel type cleanser). But when I did this after cleansing with the device, the cotton pad was basically spotless.
If you only sunscreen and a light layer of cc cream on your face, the cleansing device alone should be able to get everything off in one swoop. On a day to day basis, I do wear face makeup like blusher and bronzer so I prefer removing my makeup with a micellar water and cotton pad before double cleansing with the LumiSpa device to thoroughly remove my makeup.
It did not break me out
Before testing this device out, I was extremely afraid that it will over stimulate my acne prone and sensitive skin and cause me to breakout. Thankfully, this did not happen. In fact, after a few days into using my LumiSpa device, my skin felt smoother to touch. That’s because the device not only remove dirt and makeup, but also does a gentle exfoliation and buffing off those rough dead skin cells is what’s making the skin softer. The device also proffers to help reduce the appearance of pores, but I can’t really tell if I notice this effect.
I’ve used other brush type cleansers in the past and my skin will always look red and irritated right after but with this cleansing device it didn’t happen. I’m guessing it’s because of the automatic stop function (device stops automatically when you exert too much pressure) so you’re not tugging on your skin.
It is super easy to use
When it comes to beauty devices, I don’t like anything that is too complicated or time-consuming. I appreciated that it took only two minutes to use and it’s easy to fit into my routine. If you are looking for a cleansing device I would definitely go with one that has a silicon head like this one because cleaning it is extremely easy and makeup residue doesn’t get stuck on the bristles like brush type cleaning devices. I just wash it with a gentle face cleanser every time I use it and dry it off with a tissue. I also like how it is rechargeable for environmental reasons.

Can LumiSpa be used on other parts of the body?
No, the LumiSpa can only be used on the face, it was not designed to be used on other parts of the body.
If you want to improve the quality of the skin on the rest of your body, reduce cellulite and get rid of stretch marks… You can use the Galvanic Body Spa which has been designed for this purpose.
My review of the LumiSpa cleansing brush
Considering how long and detailed this article is, you can probably guess that my review of this brush is extremely positive! 💙 Honestly, this product had me convinced after the first usage, and since then, I’ve used it every single day.
As a woman under the age of 30 who suffers from adult acne, I decided to buy this product for two reasons : to take care of my skin now to prevent it worsening in the future, and to be done with my acne once and for all.
