Building a future partnership with the Chinese Academies of Science in Beijing, China
I've recently changed my career from an engineering executive in Silicon Valley to a State California Commissioned Credentialed teacher in the CTE fields of engineering, science, product development and architecture (STEM). The reason for my interest in this position is that it’s a core leadership position in education that will very key in driving great success for developing students into outstanding professionals in the fields of engineering, science, math and other applicable technology fields.
During the past 25+ years, I have established a solid record of achievement within engineering and science leadership positions as SVP Engineering & Products, Violin Memory; General Manager, Storage Server Products, Intel; SVP & General Manager, FalconStor Software; SVP Engineering, Quantum Corporation; CEO, Gadzoox Networks and COO, Streamlogic Corporation. I was also one of the original developers at Silicon Graphics, Inc, who developed the computer graphics for movies like the Jurassic Park series. I'm currently the CEO of my company, Linear Growth Consulting LLC, www.lineargrowthllc.com, that helps with startups to get redirected to prevent downside investment risks.
My background as an engineering and science leader is extensive and not only do I believe it correlates very well to the essentials duties of a CTE Teacher, it is very important to understand the ‘real-life’ scenarios that these students will need to know to be successful in these fields. Leaders of engineering and science are not a ‘dime a dozen’. They need to have to passion and forethought to understand the levels of every individual driving to be successful in their career paths, and they have to have been successful at doing this. It’s extremely hard. Thus, my desire to change careers was to give back to students and those that really need to understand not only the principles of engineering and sciences, but what it takes to really succeed in their careers. This area is really missing in many schools, and having the real-world experience with leading thousands of some of the most innovative engineers, scientist and inventors through their careers is experience that is thoroughly needed as a teacher and leader in teaching core CTE principals in schools, science and learning centers, interactive technology schools and throughout all STEM educational programs.
I care and strive for success by making every person feel important. I have a passionate, dedicated work approach and know-how have led many people to success. My testimonials on Linkedin are some of my past employees who either work for, or with, me. I have a associate degree in Computer Science from Foothill College, bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology from Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo, MBA in Executive Management at St. Mary’s College and a CTE Teaching Credential in Engineering, Science and Architecture (STEM), from the Orange County Department of Education. I addition, I received the Executive Leadership Certificate, Leading for Extraordinary Results, Intel Corporation and two Distinguished Awards at Intel Corporation and Quantum Corporation for 'Realizing Intel's Storage Server Vision into a Product Roadmap that Built the Division Future' and 'Innovating and Building Quantum's India Development Center, respectively.
