Egas Moniz - CRL is a reference in Health education in Portugal. It encompasses two schools, Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz and Escola Superior de Saúde Egas Moniz, having more than 2 500 students and over 400 faculty members. It offers graduations, master's degrees and postgraduate courses in the health area. Besides the academic offer, training of students and research, Egas Moniz also provides health care and other services to the community through its clinics and Senior Residence, which develop an important action of social support. The University campus is located in Monte da Caparica, Lisbon.

The Association of Instituto Superior Técnico for R&D (ISTID) is a private not for profit institution, which primarily aims at carrying out S&T activities, fostering knowledge transfer and promoting the involvement of national and foreign researchers in RD&I activities and projects. The Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) is one of the founding associates of ISTID and makes available the majority of facilities where ISTID activities are carried out. IST is the largest and most reputed school of engineering, S&T in Portugal. Its mission is to provide top quality higher education in the areas of Engineering, S&T and Architecture, as well as developing RD&I activities that meet the highest international standards. Under agreements between IST and ISTID, ISTID provides the support to R&D activities of the Research Units it hosts, in terms of installations, campus facilities, services, etc.
ISTID is the host institution of the Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE, http://cqe.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/) and Instituto de Plasmas e Fusão Nuclear (IPFN, http://www.ipfn.ist.utl.pt/portal). CQE has been classified as Excellent and IPFN as Exceptional. A large number of projects, an attractive training of young researchers and a long term interinstitutional and international cooperation epitomize the vitality of the research at both Centers.
