12th Graders: will have the opportunity to access many helpful college preparedness resources. Included in these resources are the options to meet with admissions representatives from over 30 colleges, participate in college essay writing, financial aid, common app and interviews skills workshops, or take the SAT School Day.
The SAT School Day is the SAT college entrance exam, given at students’ high schools, on a school day, rather than a Saturday administration at a test center.
This October’s SAT School Day will be a paper and pencil version of the exam, and possibly one of the last opportunities for students to take the SAT in paper format, before the test moves to digital in Spring of 2024.
The cost of the exam is $60. Registration for this exam is now open through the Wellesley Public Schools website. Under the Students and Families tab, please select: Fee Payment for Activities, Athletics, Lessons & Transportation. Then, select Guidance Exams, scroll to PSAT/NMSQT for 11th Graders, then pay for the exam using your RecTrac account.
Register no later than September 8th, 2023 at 3:00 pm if you wish to secure a seat.
11th Graders: will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT exam. The PSAT/NMSQT is a practice version of the SAT college admissions exam. The purpose of administering this test is to give 11th grade students exposure to the SAT format and college admissions exams, in general. The PSAT/NMSQT is also a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship Program. For more information on the National Merit Scholarship program, please click on the link.
For the first time, the PSAT will be administered digitally. Students will use either personal BYOL computers or school managed devices to take the exam. As the SAT moves to a digital format in Spring of 2024, taking the PSAT on Step Up Day will help students become familiar with taking this type of exam in a digital format.
Students will need to download the Bluebook app onto their Windows or Mac device. There will be opportunities during advisory in the coming weeks to get assistance with downloading. Please have the download complete by October 4th.
If you have a NON school issued Chromebook you will be given a loaner for test day. To arrange a loaner or to troubleshoot Bluebook app/device issues, please contact or stop by the WHS Tech Dept as soon as possible.
Don’t forget to bring in your device on test day FULLY charged along with your charging cord as a back-up.

10th Graders: will have the opportunity to take the PreACT exam. The PreACT is a practice version of the ACT college admissions exam. The purpose of administering this test is to give 10th grade students exposure to the ACT and college admissions exams, in general. Students will have access to their score and suggested preparation should they elect to take the ACT junior/senior year.

Step Up Day Reminders: For PreACT and PSAT because this is an in school exam students need to stay in their classrooms if they finish their exam early. Please bring a book or homework to work on till dismissal. No devices while exams are in progress.
