Stepp | Global Step Ranking — Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Stepp | Global Step Ranking is a step counting and global leaderboard application developed and maintained by Bimal Shrestha. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using Stepp | Global Step Ranking, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Voluntarily

When you choose to create an account, we collect your display name, email address, and selected country. Account creation is entirely optional. Stepp | Global Step Ranking functions fully without an account, and guest users are not required to provide any personal information.

Information Collected Automatically

When you use the app with an account, we collect your daily step count for the purpose of contributing to the global country leaderboard. We may also store your goal progress, streaks, personal best, estimated distance, and estimated calories.

We do not collect your precise GPS location, movement routes, heart rate, or any biometric health data beyond step count and related walking activity.

Device Permissions

On iOS, Stepp | Global Step Ranking may request Motion & Fitness permission to access step activity from your device’s built-in motion sensors. This permission is used only to count steps and display fitness activity inside the app.

On Android, Stepp | Global Step Ranking may request Physical Activity permission to access your device’s built-in step counter sensor.

We do not use these permissions to monitor your location or track your movement routes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect only to operate the app, including displaying your personal step count, showing daily goal progress, calculating streaks, personal best, estimated distance, and estimated calories, contributing signed-in users’ step count toward their selected country’s total on the global leaderboard, allowing users to view global country rankings, sending optional motivational push notifications if enabled, authenticating accounts through Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication, and maintaining app security, reliability, and performance.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling personal information.

4. Guest Mode

Stepp | Global Step Ranking can be used in Guest Mode without signing in. Guest Mode allows users to access the main app experience, including step tracking, dashboard, leaderboard viewing, daily goals, streaks, distance, and calorie estimates.

Sign-in is only required if a user wants their steps to contribute to their selected country on the global leaderboard.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to any third party under any circumstances.

Your step contribution may be aggregated with other users from your selected country and displayed publicly on the leaderboard as a country total only. Your individual step count, display name, and email address are not displayed publicly unless you explicitly allow it through app features.

We use Google Firebase to operate Stepp | Global Step Ranking. Firebase may be used for user authentication, database storage, and app functionality. Firebase is operated by Google LLC and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy. Firebase privacy and security information is available at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

No other third-party services receive your personal data unless required to operate the app or comply with legal obligations.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your account data and leaderboard-related data may be stored securely using Google Firebase services. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Step data stored locally on your device may be saved using your device’s local storage and app storage systems.

7. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account remains active.

If you delete your account or request account deletion, all personal data associated with your account will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days, unless retention is required for legal, security, or operational reasons.

Step count contributions already aggregated into country totals may not be removable because they form part of anonymous aggregate leaderboard data.

Guest users do not create account data. Locally stored guest step history may remain on the user’s device unless the app data is cleared or the app is uninstalled.

8. Account Deletion

If you created an account, you may request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us at airsoft.nep@gmail.com.

If the app includes an in-app account deletion option, you may also use that feature directly.

9. Children’s Privacy

Stepp | Global Step Ranking is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your country or region of residence, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate personal data, request deletion of your personal data, withdraw consent at any time, and request data portability.

11. Push Notifications

Stepp | Global Step Ranking may send push notifications to remind you of your step goals, streak progress, or changes in your country’s leaderboard position.

These notifications are entirely optional. You may disable them at any time through your device notification settings.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.

Continued use of Stepp | Global Step Ranking after any changes means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
