Stepping Stones to Success
KS2 English & Maths Tuition in NW London
How My Tuition Works
• Initial assessment to pitch teaching accurately
• Small, ability-grouped sessions (2–4 pupils) in a dedicated classroom
• Lessons carefully planned for each group - not built around generic worksheets
• Structured fiction and non-fiction writing units, with spelling, punctuation and grammar taught in context
• Maths focused on fluency, reasoning and depth
• Skills layered cumulatively - each lesson builds deliberately on prior learning
• Clear written feedback after every session, with matched homework to reinforce progress
• Progress is strongest when pupil, parent and tutor work in partnership
I’m Miwa, a qualified primary teacher with over 17 years’ experience - and I genuinely love what I do.
I have led writing across two challenging primary schools as part of the Senior Leadership Team, working with pupils across the full ability range: from those with SEND and social or emotional needs to those working at greater depth. I have high standards and a strong belief that every child, when taught well, can make meaningful progress.
After fifteen years in mainstream education, I chose to focus fully on tutoring so I could work more closely with pupils and deliver the depth, structure and challenge that can be difficult to achieve in larger classrooms. I continue to support pupils across this range, including those preparing successfully for selective 11+ entry.
My lessons are lively, purposeful and carefully structured. I plan deliberately for engagement, matching content to pupils’ interests while maintaining clear expectations and accountability. When children are engaged and challenged, real progress follows.
