Our workshops are offered in two age groups/classes:
BLUE - which is for youth ages 8-12
PINK - which is for youth ages 13-18
You'll notice that we keep the groups that way in correlation with the way our literary magazines are split into two age groups.
We have these age groups split this way so that classes can be tailored to accommodate the level of work expected from either age group. Even if your child is considered "advanced" in reading and writing, we will usually keep them in the respective class and make slight adjustments to make sure they are still being challenged. The colors correspond with age groups, NOT gender. So, any youth within those age groups are welcome! :)
With the virtual setting, during this pandemic, we have the ability to meet with as many as 20 students per class and break out into breakout rooms if necessary. Should we have more than 20 students enrolled, we will split those classes into multiple blocks of time.
As a self-published author of over 6 personal books, two literary magazines for youth, a literary magazine for adults underway, and a lifetime of creative writing and arts training, I can assure you that your child will be receiving high quality training.
A little more about me: I graduated from the University of Baltimore '08 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. I graduated Cum Laude with membership in Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. My experiences range from Art Honors, being published in UB's literary magazine Welter, and public speaking for Poetry Open Mics, Guest Speaking, and Special Events. I have been involved with community service for youth and children since I was a youth: providing childcare for events at my local church, VBS teaching, Upward Soccer coaching, youth mediation, coping skills and therapeutic talk, reading for children at Head Start, donating backpacks and food goods to local families, and various other activities that all lend themselves to help me strive for excellence in teaching your child(ren).
I am offering these FREE youth workshops to empower our kids and provide them with necessary confidence in performing life skills. My Non-Profit Organization, Stephy J Creations Inc., has one main goal in mind: "To elevate the voices of our youth!"
If you are interested in offering your time and talents to Stephy J Creations Inc, we are looking for dedicated people who are willing to assist students with empowerment workshop activities. Background checks will be required, as we can never be too safe in this day and age. I'm sure you already have heard of even incidents of indecency in the virtual learning world, so we absolutely must make sure that all of our adult participants have been properly vetted for the safety of our children.
Workshop activities would include follow-along exercises to form short narratives, poems, and artwork. It absolutely helps if you already have experience/interest in creative writing and art... but it also absolutely helps if you just have the desire to see children succeed.
