Albert Einstein once said, "Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one learned in school."
As an educator, it is my responsibility to prepare students to be active and well-informed members of society. When I teach students, I focus less on specific material they are learning and more on how they are learning to be citizens of the world. As a media teacher, I am passionate about teaching students how to interact with the world of information around us. While they may not remember specific details of the lessons and projects we do, it is my hope that they have learned how to think for themselves and evaluate information they find on the internet. With technology evolving at a rapid speed, I understand that many of the specific tools I teach (Canva, Google Docs, etc.) might be obsolete in just a few years. So, I work to teach them how to problem solve and interact with new tools using their past experiences. I am proud to educate students to be independent thinkers and to encourage them to seek answers and information for themselves outside of a traditional classroom setting.
