Professional Training

When I first started teaching, I had zero formal teaching education. I hadn't even taken a Coursera course about education! (Luckily, I had very supportive coworkers and plenty of informal training from my time as a professional tutor and a volunteer outreach coordinator.)

Years later, as the Chair of Biology, it dawned on me that I had a management job - and I had never studied management and never even read a book about it.

What if every new teacher, professor, and Chair had the tools they needed to excel at their jobs? I've gotten so many good ideas from friends, colleagues, and of course, internet searches and AI inquiries. Now that I'm more confident in my abilities, I want to pay it forward to other teachers by sharing my ideas.
