My background and training is within clinical and health psychology, with a particular focus on marginalized populations. I strive to conduct work that addresses health disparities experienced by these communities. I view myself as a clinical scientist that uses empirical knowledge to improve healthcare quality and both psychological and physical outcomes of marginalized individuals. To this end, my ultimate career goal is to conduct research at a highly active research institution and to develop clinical services through the scope of health psychology and behavioral medicine. I am particularly interested in developing HIV prevention interventions that address substance use and mental health through a culturally informed lens for sexual and gender minority Hispanic/Latino populations.
