I am Stephen Burgess from Perth Western Australia
This is my personal homepage. This page is about my life, not primarily about science, although I do talk about science because it is such a big part of my life. But I also talk about life, the universe, God and everything. If this sort of thing does not interest you, feel free to navigate to a different page. There are lots of things I would like to write about, but currently the scope of this page is a bit narrow because of my present circumstances. Currently I am finding life tough because I have been through a number of horrifying experiences. Most of them have been supernatural experiences which presents a problem in that most people completely reject the category of the supernatural which makes it hard to talk about your experiences without a certain fraction of humanity considering you are not of sound mind. Some of my bad experiences have included medical procedures gone wrong and that sort of thing which are much easier to talk about, but are ultimately less important. One of my strategies to overcome these experiences has been self education. Some of this has been science and agriculture, but a larger proportion devoted to philosophy, science and on the Christian faith have held since I was in about 19 years old. Some of the speakers I have enjoyed on Youtube on these latter three themes include: John Lennox, Timothy Keller, Don A Carson [I would probably differ with him on how Calvinist thought should be squared with the bible], James W Tour, Dan Wallace, Stephen C Meyer and Jonathan Wells [okay the introduction to one of his videos may not be my favourite]....more to come website under construction....Some of the speakers may not meet with a very warm reception by some of my good friends in science who are strong supporters of evolutionary theory. For myself, I am quite open-minded when it comes to the theory of evolution. On the one hand, I'm completely comfortable with well reasoned theistic content when it comes to understanding the origin of the universe and of life on earth. On the other hand, when I see obvious examples of evolution at work, such as in the development of antibiotic resistance, I am also completely supportive of those ideas. I am in the luxurious position of being able to accept material from both lines of thought, without it affecting the firm foundations of my Christian faith.
