It is no secret that Gallatin County has been struggling with its finances in past years. Ongoing problems with cash reconciliation has resulted in external auditors issuing another disclaimer of opinion on the County’s financial statements.
If elected, I intend to spend time collaborating with other county treasurers to study the systems they have in place. The goal of this will be to compare how our county operates compared to others that do not share our financial problems. This will benefit in helping us to be informed when implementing changes to remedy this issue. On top of this, I am also willing to work together with the rest of the financial team across the various elected offices of Gallatin County.
Another goal as treasurer will be to maintain a department that is responsive to the public by answering emails and phone calls in a timely manner. I’d also like for us to publish easy-to-read educational materials that address the most frequently asked questions.
Additionally, I will do my part to foster an environment of cooperation with other elements of our county government, we should all be here with the same goal: to provide excellent service for the taxpayers of Gallatin County.
