Some fun facts about me:
I am an avid fan of the circus and currently study aerial silks, static and flying trapeze at local circus schools in Vancouver. I believe the physical challenge exercises the creative and mental processes.
I've had a passion for visual effects ever since I was young, inspired by the amazing visuals in films like "Jurassic Park" and Harryhausen's "Clash of the Titans". In fact, one of my first memories of my visual storytelling was photographing my Pegasus toy from "Clash of the Titans" in various settings around my home.
I have used my passion for visual storyteling, artistic direction and supervisory experience to build a successful business and became involved with regionally recognized dance troupes in Atlanta and New York. I believe in choreographing a piece the same way an animated movie is made - from concept to show. I utilize the same project management skills to create a highly artistic and technical production.
I love sharing my knowledge for visual effects and have spent time visiting several schools explaining the process of animated film making - and in some cases specifically discussing the art of lighting. This passion is evident in my home life as well - in fact, my daughter's artwork can be seen in the final credits of "Ice Age: Continental Drift".
In 1994 I had the amazing opportunity to participate as an Antarctic researcher during an expedition to the South Atlantic Ocean to study the melt and re-growth cycle of the Antarctica continent's sea ice. I was chosen for this assignment because of my strong organizational skills and attention to detail. To an artist's eye, this was a trip of a lifetime. I gained a new creative perspective and believe that my experience in an environment of mostly ice was supremely beneficial during my time on "Ice Age: Continental Drift". My paper "Sea-Ice Development in the Ross, Amundsen, and Bellingshausen Seas" can be found in the Antarctic Journal of the United States: https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/1996/nsf96120/nsf96120.pdf
