Stephanie van der Veen

Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Accounting at Copenhagen Business School since September 2026. 

My research is centered around disclosure and regulation in which I leverage my data science background to systematically process and interpret textual disclosures. My work is driven by a deep interest in understanding how firms use and adjust their disclosures to navigate changing economic, institutional and regulatory environments. I am also interested in the broader regulatory landscape itself, including how regulation is written and can be fragmented across regulators. 

My projects examine disclosure responses to regulatory shocks (e.g., the EU AI Act and U.S. state-level pay transparency laws), disclosure choices more broadly (e.g.., in a loss-making environment), and how regulatory fragmentation relates to corporate misconduct.
