The family stood at the entrance of the cave and watched as Poseidon walked away from them. The horses began to exit the cave as well. Their eyes had changed from a gleaming red to a glowing blue. So blue, that in fact it was if you could see the ocean in them. Athena looked to the sky and it was if a cloud blew over the city itself.
"Now the people of this amazing city will be able to see these amazing creatures as they are, and Athens will become the wealthiest city in the world from all the tourism they will bring in," said Athena.
"How will the people know that Poseidon created them?" asked Polly.
"I think I can arrange a little meeting with the Senate," Athena answered and she smiled.
As Mr. Pose got far enough in the distance, he turned back and waved at them, and they all waved back.
Rick turned and looked at Athena with a look of sadness in his eyes. He assumed that this meant that things would go back to as they were before he had reconnected with his love, and that he would forget everything he had experienced.
“So what really does happen now?” he asked again.
Athena was moved by her emotions. Rick was the only person who was able to see beyond the mist that hides the mythology world from the human world. He was the only person who has remembered her based on her owl form. She knew that this meant that his love for her must have been so strong that he must be her one true love.
Gods and goddesses never typically settle down with a single love, but there has also never been a time that a human was able to remember a god who had made them forget who they were. She knew that even a goddess such as herself would not be able to ignore these powerful forces of love.
“Rick, I love you and I should have never left,” she said.
His expression softened as he listened. “I love you too,” he said, “and I never stopped, even though I couldn’t remember why or who, I knew that I had already experienced my true love and I never even searched.”
They embraced now. She knew that it would be a difficult path, but nothing in life worth having is easy, so she knew what she had to do.
“Well, I still have to maintain my godly duties, but I guess it might be fun to dabble in the realm of decent motherhood for once!” Athena beamed.
The whole family embraced now. The kids were very happy to hear this for they had never truly known their mother figure, and now there was so much possibility out there for their family to experience.
The family headed to the airport, Athena and Rick hand-in-hand, and boarded the plane. As the plane was taking off, Polly and Arty looked at each other and smiled. They could see the landscape of Athens slowly fading away and they knew that their lives were forever changed.

Author's Note: One thing that I wanted to clarify in this author’s note was that Athens operates as a democracy government. Therefore, I wanted to imply that Athena still connects with the leaders of Athens, i.e. their Senate, in some ways. I wanted this to seem almost maternal, in the sense that Athena is always checking in on her patron city. This is how she is going to talk to them and tell them what Poseidon has created and how much it will benefit the city. I also was inspired by the Disney and Pixar movie that I saw this weekend, Coco, to make Rick and Athena rekindle their love. In this movie, there is a pair of lovers that have lost their connection, but are reconnected through their kids and an adventure. The spirit of adventure is a powerful one, but I believe that the power of love is a more powerful one. I like that this idea of true love was able to play a role in my story as well. In the end, the conclusion I have presented in this story has both the kids and the spirit of adventure playing into it, so I thought that it was a sign that they needed to be together. I am really happy with how all of my thoughts and inspirations have come together in this story. Thanks for reading everyone, and I hope you enjoyed!
