PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
As an international teacher, I belong to the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) which seeks to advance the education of students and teachers throughout the world by developing their understanding, knowledge and appreciation of music, to promote high standards of musical performance by all international schools, and promote the value of music education. My goal is to attend the annual Music Educators' Conference to attend workshops, and so far I have attended one online and one in person:
November 22-23, 2019, Hong Kong International School
November 2-15, 2020, AMIS Music Educators' Online Summit 2020
Throughout 2020-2021 I attended many online workshops to sharpen my skills as an educator teaching in an online atmosphere:
March 13th, 2021 – West Michigan Orff Chapter with Michelle Fella Przybylowski presents "Make A Move"
March 27th – Quad State Orff Chapter with BethAnn Hepburn presents "Creative Connections"
April 24th, 2021 – West Michigan Orff Chapter with Matthew Stensrud presents "Intro to the Responsive Classroom Within Orff"
September 19th, 2020 – Minnesota Orff Chapter with Beth Nelson presents "Projects & Possibilities"
May 21st, 2020 – Music Ed Forward with Nyssa Brown presents "What Will Music Class Look Like Fall 2020 and Beyond?"
The American Orff Schulwerk Association National Conference consistently offers an outstanding range of local to international presenters who share their knowledge and expertise in the Orff approach. As a conference attendee at the AOSA since 2004, the conference, it is a crucial way for Orff educators from around the country to connect and network. Our sessions filled with singing, dancing and playing are much closer a family reunion because of something we all share as Orff teachers: sharpening our skills as practitioners so we can bring the best to our students and our own communities.

PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
From 2005-2019, I served for my local Orff Schulwerk chapter, MN Orff. I had several roles of leadership during my time on the board including secretary, program chair, vice president and president. Our goals are to sustain and support the music teacher community in both their professional development and their personal and artistic growth. We promote the understanding and use of Orff Schulwerk principles in providing active, expressive, and creative musical experience for all learners.
Local opportunities for professional development happen every year in February for the Minnesota Music Educators Association's Midwinter Clinic. Below is a list of topics I have presented with my local chapter, MN Orff:
