Employer Apprenticeship Resource Hub

Literacy Link South Central (LLSC) has developed a comprehensive resource hub with tools, tips and resources specifically tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized employers (SMEs) that is now available online.

We're supporting you by giving you resources that help you attract, train and retain apprentices. 

The resources in our hub were developed in consultation with employers, apprentices, workforce development boards and other apprenticeship stakeholders.  

These tools are quick, easy to use and FREE!  

We offer you tools and tips on how to make small, manageable changes that can have a large impact by 

• expanding your hiring pool 

• futureproofing your workforce 

• reducing costs for attraction, training and daily operations 

  • helping you respond to the unique, individualized needs of their apprentices  

• improving the businesses reputation of your community 

• helping you remain current and cutting edge with your knowledge and practices 

• supporting you in developing effective training, mentorship, supervisory and communication skills

  • increasing safety 

• improving compliance from your workforce 

• supporting you in developing and enhancing your equity, diversity and inclusion strategies

To support employers even further, we're developing a series of in-person and online events which will be hosted across the province.  At these events we will share resources and promising practices including 

• meeting your local Literacy Network who is your one stop shop to connect your apprentice to FREE, local adult upskilling (LBS) programs

• learning what types of learning local adult upskilling programs offer for you apprentice

• becoming aware of strategies other employers have used to build their workforce

• how to attract equity deserving people in the skilled trades

• retaining your workforce
