Give each group 10 LEGO DUPLO blocks to construct a structure. What could the structure represent in the real world? Students should attempt to build a second structure using the same 10 blocks. Is there only one way to assemble the blocks?

Give the kids math problems, place numbers 1 to 10 at intervals along track.Kids must place train tile to stop at the right answer.

This train set has myriad uses. It comes with sound tiles and stop and reverse tiles.Great for solving problems visually and tactically.
Also great for building dioramas that kids can create stories around.
I also bought sets of DUPLO animals and people and more blocks.

10. Topic: Living and Nonliving

Discuss what is living and nonliving. Lead students to understand that living things have basic needs, but nonliving things do not. Living things are made of cells, require energy (food), require water, require air, respond to their environment (often includes movement), and grow and reproduce. Allow students to generate a few examples.

Take students on a scavenger hunt. Blank spaces are for personal explorations. After the scavenger hunt is done, have a class discussion over the basic needs and characteristics of the items found.
