Teams engage in energizing activities that strengthen communication, trust, and critical thinking--key skills for the challenges ahead.
Debrief & Goal Setting for Day 2

Students reflect on their progress and set specific goals for teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving throughout the day.
Escape Room Challenge - Led by Kim Terry (SBCSS)
9:00 - 10:30 A.M.
Through an immersive escape room experience, students explore collaborative systems thinking, teamwork under pressure, and strategy development--all critical to designing games with shared goals.
Finding Patterns, Problems & Puzzles: Understanding Game Instructions
10:30 - 12:30 P.M.
Students investigate how patterns and logic shape effective games. They will analyze puzzles, games and dissect sample instructions to identify what makes a game both playable and engaging.
Lunch & Team Activity
12:30 - 1:00 P.M.
A time to refuel and reconnect through lunch and light team games that reinforce collaboration in a relaxed setting.
Crushing Castles - Engineering with MESA
1:00 - 2:30 P.M.
Led by Carlos Gonzales (UCR), students build and test structures using principles of simple machines, applying variables to engineer more effective designs in a fun and engaging format.
End-of-Day-Reflection
2:30 - 3:00 P.M.
Students and mentors review successes and challenges from the day, reinforcing key takeaways and setting the stage for continued growth on Day 3.

Day 2 Slides
