STEM Educators Academy is taught by collaborative teams of afterschool educators at elementary and middle schools across New York City. Focused on relevant, hands-on, and design-based projects connected to the city’s science standards – the program is designed to nurture student interest and engagement in STEM while also supporting educator skill development. Educators have access to training, curriculum, coaching, and planning materials from ExpandED Schools and its partners at the New York Hall of Science, which they utilize for support in creating interactive and inclusive STEM learning experiences with young people.
STEM Educators Academy is a collaboration between ExpandED Schools and The New York Hall of Science. NYSCI serves schools, families and underserved communities in the New York City area, offering informal, hands-on learning through various products and services that use the “design-make-play” method of bringing delight and play to educating science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). ExpandED Schools works to make sure all young people in New York City and beyond have enriching, joyful learning experiences that affirm their identities and spark new possibilities. ExpandED provides afterschool programs with curricula and support; trains afterschool educators; and advances the afterschool sector through policy and research.
STEM Educators Academy and the materials hosted on this Resource Hub have been generously supported over the past 12 years by Con Edison, RBC Foundation USA, Overdeck Family Foundation, The Pinkerton Foundation, the United States Department of Education, and anonymous donors via Arabella Advisors.
