1/10/22
I started working on making the glove and finding out optimal fitting for everything on one hand. I used the LucidVR glove as a reference for fitting. Began designing a flat surface to fit on hand for mounting parts.
1/11/22
I planned the fitting of the parts on the glove and sketched out a proof of concept.
1/18/22
Began printing the first parts for the glove. These parts are to create a surface to mount components onto the glove.
1/19/22
3D prints for wrist and hand parts finished. Found out that it wasn't curved well enough to fit the hands well. So, we'll 3d print a second time with a smaller radius
1/24
3d printed a second prototype for hand base. The part still needed more curvature. I also finished the redisign and sliced it for printing.
1/26
The prototype came out nicely. I'm now going to plan and design a parts layout for the hand and glove.
1/27
I finished a rough sketch of the layout of components on the hand base and the wrist base.
2/2
hot glued all components onto hand and wrist base to test as a prototype.
2/3
Began designing rings to tie the pullback spring to on each finger.
2/8
Finger ring design was finished for all fingers
2/10
Rings were printed
2/14-18
Built an unrelated solar panel project for class.
2/28
designed and printed guiding parts for the string on the glove
3/2
Redesigned all parts with a larger hole and elliptical fit to better fit onto hand.
3/9/22
Glued redesigned parts to the new glove. The fit was much better.
3/10/22
began threaded Strings into the new glove.
3/14/22 Hot Glued the hand base part onto glove with Servos attached.
3/18/22
Got a servo tester board to test Haptic feedback.
3/21/22
Had to adjust string lengths many times for proper haptic feedback. Finally got a result I was happy with. Still need to thread the thumb.
3/23/22
Threaded the thumb and adjusted strings further. Arduino code has become operational and was tested on two fingers.
3/24/22
did more testing with Arduino code, Arduino is functional and can control all 5 fingers
4/4 - 4/8
Need to repair and adjust guides and strings. perfecting the string lengths is a pain, but I hope to have a fully operational glove while Abdul continues his programming.
4/11 - 4/15
4/18 - 4/22
4/25 - 4/29
This week we finalized our poster board and wrote an abstract. We also began researching how to integrate Arduinos and unity to later connect the servos based on collisions in-game
5/2-5/6
AP Exams started this week.
5/9-5/13/22
This week, I integrated the servo controller board into the system, and installed openGloves on Steam (though I still need to install more components for it to work).
We now need to make servos functional through the controller board
5/16
began looking at how the gloves will begin to connect to the vr. Since we are using a quest, we need other software to link steam to the quest in order to use openGloves.
6/3
After countless attempts and little progress made, it was decided that the implementation of the project with the resources available would be impossible (lack of sufficient computer hardware)
