Rob Ibbetson, born and raised in Corona California. His wife Shanon and him have five children that have all attended Corona-Norco Unified School District schools. I started my career in education as a Science Teacher, became an Assistant Principal and then Principal at the Intermediate and High School levels. I am currently the district Director of the Career Technical Education Department for CNUSD.

Autumn Wassink is the Outreach Coordinator at California Baptist University’s Gordon and Jill Bourns College of Engineering. She specializes in developing partnerships that support STEM education and student engagement. With a background in community outreach and event coordination, she’s passionate about creating opportunities that connect education with career pathways.
Azin Mobasher Ph.D.

Academic Program Manager, Department of Physics & Astronomy, UC Riverside
Dr. Mobasher oversees academic programming and outreach for the Department of Physics & Astronomy at UC Riverside. She co-directs the annual STEM Summer Cap, a hands-on initiative supported by NASA and NSF, engaging Inland Empire high school students in emerging fields such as AR/VR, drones, 3D printing, Python and data analytics. In this role, she manages logistics, curriculum, and partnerships to build meaningful pathways into STEM, emphasizing small group learning and college-readiness.
Joe Sepulveda

Joe Sepulveda is an award-winning IT professional with 20 years of experience in academic (K12 & Higher Ed) and corporate technology spaces, currently serving as Manager for Teaching and Learning Initiatives at UC Riverside’s XCITE Center for Teaching and Learning. He has led major campus-wide edtech initiatives—including the transition to Canvas LMS—and oversees a broad portfolio of tools like Gradescope, Poll Everywhere, YuJa, and emerging AI platforms. Known for strategic leadership and exceptional service, Joe ensures UCR’s academic technology ecosystem remains innovative, scalable, and responsive.
Kaytie Carrasco

Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA) at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Corona
Kaytie Carrasco fulfills the role of ORTA for NSWC Corona. She facilitates agreements for collaboration with both academia and private industry such as Education Partnership Agreements (EPAs) and Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) as well as manages the Patent and Intellectual Property Portfolio for the command among other “technology transfer” functions. She is an alumnus of California Baptist University and has her B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. 2025 marks her 9th year of working for a NAVSEA organization.

Ayumi Shimojyo
Lead Mentor
Ayumi Shimojyo is a Bourns intern. She is attending Biola University with a buisness major. She is the Lead Mentor for our SSLL Programs. She is so excited to be working with the students and mentors to make it an amazing experience.
Jasmine Shields
Jasmine has been a mentor for 3 years. She currently attends UC Irvine as an incoming second-year, majoring in Sofware Engineering. She loves helping at the STEP Summer Camps and learns a lot as a mentor.
Abigail DiBonaventura
Abigail is in her second year of mentoring STEM Summer Learning Labs this year. She is attending Southern Utah University as a second-year studying psychology. Abigail loves helping students get the most out of these programs by utilizing the team dynamic.
Ishan Gonehal
Ishan is on his 3rd year as a mentor. He will start his undergrad this fall at UC Berkeley to study bioengineering. Ishan loves helping students come together and challege themselves to solve real world problems at the STEP Summer Learning Labs.
Raelyn Cantu
Raelyn has been a mentor for the STEM Summer Learning Labs for 4 years. She is currently attending Riverside City College as a second year double majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Engineering. She loves working with the students on expanding their innovative ideas and seeing their excitment to learn.
Justin Diep
Assistant mentor
Justin is rising senior at John W. North High School who has participated in the STEM Summer Learning Labs the past three years. This year, he participated as a assistant mentor for the STEM ID program before leaving to attend the Stanford Summer Session early. Justin had an amazing experience at his previous STEM Summer Labs & enjoyed giving back to the STEM program before graduating.
