About Us

 Our research group develops technologies spanning the full spectrum of stem cell science from cell fate conversion and cell generation, through the control of differentiation, to translation into a wide range of applications. To this end, we utilize biomaterials, physical stimuli such as electrical and ultrasonic fields, and ultra-precision spectroscopic techniques. The scope of our work extends from biomedical engineering, including in vitro disease modeling, patient-specific drug screening, and cell replacement therapy, to environmental engineering, where we establish models for toxicity assessment, and further to advanced food science, where we develop cultured meat. Our vision is to establish the enabling technologies for precise control of stem cell fate, and through them to address the intertwined challenges of human health, the environment, and the food we depend on.

 Prof. Ju Hyun Park received his Ph.D in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Seoul National University in 2011 (advised by Prof. Tai Hyun Park) and conducted postdoctoral research at McLean Hospital / Harvard Medical School (under Prof. Kwang-Soo Kim). Following his postdoctoral training, he worked as a Senior Scientist at Chong Kun Dang Research Institute, overseeing biopharmaceutical R&D program. He is currently a faculty member in the College of Biomedical Science at Kangwon National University, where his laboratory investigates biomaterial-based platforms for advanced stem cell engineering.
