Since the end of the Great Schism, the beginning of Stelune’s long and prestigious history, the wolves of Stelune have dedicated themselves to studying the night sky. It’s believed by every Stelunite that the Light, and their ancestors, communicate through star arrangements and the shifting of constellations throughout the year. There are various different star patterns and constellations that hold significant meaning in Stelunite culture.
One of the primary cultural highlights of Stelune is their storytelling - there are billions of stars in the night sky, and Bards (and many others of the pack) are meant to recall a decent number of them that help guide their actions or are stories they share with newer or younger members of the pack.
Prospective Stelunites may notice that there are not many stories or songs featured on official Stelune pack information pages - this is on purpose. Stelunites are more than welcome to create stories of their own - all of Stelune’s Constellations and special stars with reputations associated with them are all based off of real stars and constellations that appear in the night-time sky in the northern hemisphere. Feel free to draw your own inspiration from both existing Stelunite lore and the night sky for tales of old Stelunites in generations past.
During certain events for the pack, members may have the opportunity to submit new stories to officially add to the Stelune canon!
However, with this being said, please refrain from creating new stars or stories that may have an effect on existing characters. For example, saying “all Stelunite fear this star cluster because-” or creating a story about another character’s relative or ancestor without the player’s permission, is not acceptable. Creativity and ingenuity are encouraged, but not at the expense of your packmates or official lore! Should anyone ever have questions or concerns about a song they would like to introduce, feel free to reach out to Badge via Discord to inquire!
Throughout the year, the night sky shifts and the stars change, and various different astronomical events transpire, all of which is observed and noted by the Stelunites that live in the valley of Lightspeak Summit. Star alignments and certain celestial events can also be of special interest when litters are born, or when observing for omens or signs that something troubling may be on the horizon. Here are some well-observed omens and star signs that Stelunites have identified over the ages.
SCION’S STAR - One of the brightest stars that shine in the night sky and at the head of a prominent constellation, it is believed this star bears the soul of the first Scion, the wolf that released Light into the sky and received its final message. It is the northernmost and largest star in Constellation Lightspeak. To follow this star is to always know north, and Stelunites can use it to navigate their way home to their valley. Unlike many of the stars that shift over the course of the year, the Scion’s Star and Constellation Lightspeak is visible every night year-round, though its position might shift depending on the season.
STARS OF WARDSHIP - A band of three stars stationed closely together, and only visible during the colder months of the year, these three stars are believed to represent the first Vanguards, and stand as a reminder of the legacy of Stelune’s and the Light’s guardians. Over the past few generations, a reputation has developed that while pups being born during the colder months under these stars are born into hardship, they will grow to thrive and prosper under the stewardship of the Vanguard and Stelune as a whole.
THE STAR OF ILL OMEN - The Stelunites call it Vermillion. The Evil Eye. The Star of Ill Omen. It’s had many names over the course of generations. A red star that occasionally makes an appearance in the night sky, it is regarded as a terrible sign of bad luck and heralds turbulence or trouble for Stelune. It was this star that shone the night before the Scion was murdered all those generations ago, ushering in the age of the Vanguard, and is mentioned by name in the great song that Bards sing of the tragedy. Pups that are born underneath it are often rumored and suspected to lead terrible or legendary lives, or both.
STARLIGHT SHOWERS - While it happens only once or twice an annual cycle at most, the Stelunites are occasionally aghast with wonder when a series of stars begin to shoot across the sky. These starlight showers could carry any abundance of meaning, from a heralding of a grand celebration to the gravest of warnings. But whenever they occur, it’s believed that they are the voices of their ancestors attempting to communicate something important from beyond the material plane, and it is the responsibility of the Stelunites to answer. So, in the wake of these starlight showers, it is ceremonial and expected to sing back to the night sky, and howl regardless of where a Stelunite may be in the world.
Whenever a Stelunite dies, it is believed that their soul goes to join with their ancestors in the night sky, and becomes a new star. While stars naturally form in clusters, and there are constellations in the night sky, whenever a new star is observed after a death, it is believed by the Stelunies that the constellation in question that new star is a part of has been claimed as a family line within the pack. In turn, all living Stelunite, be they blood-related or adopted, belong to a constellation, and will claim one as their heritage. Below are the constellations currently recognized within Stelune.
In order to join a constellation, a wolf must either be born into one (a cub could claim one of any of the constellations their parents belong to), adopted into a lineage by a member of said constellation, or they may claim one during their Pilgrimage of Light, with the blessing of the Scion and Vanguard. The only constellations that a wolf cannot claim on their own are Constellation Lightspeak and Constellation Summit.
But with newcomers being welcomed into Stelune’s midst for the first time in generations, there is no knowing if this list will expand.
CONSTELLATION LIGHTSPEAK:
A constellation that is visible year-round, this constellation is the body of stars that houses the various Scions over the course of Stelune’s vast and proud history. It includes the Scion’s Star, and is the constellation that any Stelunites might look to in order to guide themselves home.
WOLVES - Scion Genevieve [CLOSED FOR ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS]
CONSTELLATION SUMMIT:
A smaller constellation that is only viewable during summer months represents the family line founded only a few generations ago by the Vanguard who made the bold decision to take over stewardship of Stelune. The newest of the recognized constellations, it’s become, arguably, the most lauded of family lineages and significant of constellations to look to for song inspiration. Next to Constellation Lightspeak, of course. There has always been at least one Vanguard in every generation to carry on the family’s tradition and to earn their places amongst this newly prestigious star cluster.
WOLVES - Dante [CLOSED FOR ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS, AUDITIONABLE OR NPC ROLES]
CONSTELLATION LITTLE BEAR:
For a constellation named Little Bear, it is ironically the largest constellation in the night-time sky, and is viewable during summer to late summer months. The songs that surround various stars that are a part of it, and the sheer volume of stars and space that make up the whole of this cluster shows that, next to the Constellation of Light, this is amongst the oldest family lines within Stelune. Its founding members were a pair of twin wolves that were rumored to be an Eldritch Knight and Horizon Walker in turn, and their exploits of bravery and nobility having made for popular hits during Winter’s Hearth.

CONSTELLATION RATTLER:
The Constellation of the Rattler is amongst the faintest in the night sky, and one of the smallest, it’s viewable during the fall to winter seasons. It may not be the flashiest of constellations, but it has burned steadily for many, many generations, and is suspected of being almost as old as the Constellation Lightspeak or Little Bear. While no epic song exists of this constellation’s founders, one notable story was of an Artificer in generations past who was able to cure any affliction that came before them and that traveled the material plane in the name of Stelune. And when they returned from their travels, they were able to even heal the Scion, who had fallen ill to a spider’s venom. As a result of this, many wolves born or adopted into this Constellation tend to lean towards the alignment of Artificer in honor of the Songs told of their ancestors.

CONSTELLATION MOUNTAIN CAT:
The Constellation of the Mountain Cat is another of the older constellations of the Stelunite skies - most commonly viewable during spring and early summer months, wolves of this constellation are so named for the first of this family line, a Beastmaster so bold that she singlepawedly took down a mountain lion that refused to leave the Summit’s vicinity. Her descendants, and those that the family has adopted into its ranks (and adoption is more readily given and extended by this particular Constellation), proudly claim this constellation as their own. It houses several bright stars, all of which have their own memorable stories that can be told during Winter’s Hearth.

CONSTELLATION EAGLE:
One of the newer recognized constellations of Stelune, this particular constellation is viewable during late summer to the autumn season, and is one of the fastest growing constellations within the pack. It’s believed that the founding wolf of this constellation was an Eldritch Knight that was felled during the conflict spoken of in the Song of the Vanguard, who’d been a close friend of the Scion that was murdered in its wake. While those who claim the Constellation of the Eagle tend to be all manners of alignments, they do tend to proudly stand by the Scion in honor of that legacy.
WOLVES - Renesemee, Open for More Characters
CONSTELLATION MOTH:
Another newer constellation, this particular star cluster is right next to the Constellation of the Eagle and is viewable during the same seasons (summer and autumn). But this star cluster is small, and for good reason, as far as many Stelunites are concerned. The founders of this Constellation were wolves who once belonged to the ravagers that turned on their brethren after the murder of the Scion. They were lauded for their bravery by the Vanguard of the time, and were welcomed into Stelune as a new Constellation.
