"Make a Ripple, Change the World"

St. Elizabeth

Kindness Week

2023

In collaboration with SevenDays.org, the St. Elizabeth community celebrates a week of spreading kindness and understanding to create positive change in our world.

Each day students and families can engage in opportunities to increase kindness through discovery, dialogue and connecting with others.

We had an incredible first annual Kindness Week in 2023!

See below for how we celebrated each day. Read about it in the student newspaper here >>

Day 1 • Discover

Take time to broaden your worldview.

SCHOOL

All school assembly led by SevenDays youth leadership to kick off Kindness Week!

HOME

Put a twist on dinner and family movie night. Try a new food and watch a movie that broadens your family's world view.

Some STE parents put together a list* of movies and local restaurants to try. Check out the list here >>

*Please note that each family should use their own discretion in what they deem appropriate content.

Day 2 • GO

Be active inside or outside. A body in motion makes for a happy soul.

Day 3 • Others

Learn about and embrace someone who is an "other" in your community.

"Faith in Our Neighbors"  11:00 am Seton Hall
Bring the family after mass to learn about other religions in our neighborhood. We will welcome members of the Kansas City Interfaith Council at this fun and interactive event.

Donuts & refreshments served. You'll be done in plenty of time for your Super Bowl party!

Day 4 • Connect

Seek connections with new people and gather together with family and friends.

SCHOOL

STUCO will help kids "Mix It Up" at lunch with activities and questions to get to know someone outside of their circle.

HOME

Invite someone new to dinner or reach out to a neighbor you have not interacted with.

Does your child have a game today? Try sitting with someone new in the bleachers. Be extra welcoming to the opposing team.

Day 5 • Love • St. Valentine's Day

Reach out to those you care about.

SCHOOL

Valentine's Day & Kindness Spirit Day! Students may wear a red shirt/top with uniform bottoms, STE joggers, or jeans.

"Messages with Heart" STUCO will display student's messages of what it means to love one another.

HOME

Take time today to pray together as a family. You can download and print this Family Prayer for Love

At dinner: Take turns sharing what you love about each person at the table.

Day 6 • You

Take care of your mind, body and soul.

SCHOOL

Join the school community for mass at 8:30 am. All are welcome. We will honor Terri LaManno, St. Elizabeth class of 1975 and May Queen for her class. She was a victim of a hate crime in 2014. More about Terri >>
