St. Elizabeth

Kindness Week

In collaboration with SevenDays.org, the St. Elizabeth school community celebrates a week of spreading kindness and understanding to create positive change in our world.

Each day students and families can engage in opportunities to increase kindness through discovery, dialogue and connecting with others.

Day 1Love

Reach out to those you care about

SCHOOL:

Kindness Week will kick off at our all school mass today. Students will receive inspirational stickers from the Seven Days organization.

HOME:

Take time today to pray together as a family. Download and print this Family Prayer for Love

At dinner you can take turns sharing what you love about each person at the table.  Write a personal note to someone who needs to know that you care.

Day 2 • Discover

Take time to broaden your worldview.

SCHOOL:

Discover Kindness Door Decorations! Each class will discover new ways to be kind and decorate their classroom door with ideas on how we can spread kindness.

HOME:

Put a twist on dinner and family movie night. Try a new food and watch a movie that broadens your family's world view.

Some STE parents put together a list* of movies and local restaurants to try. Check out the 2023 list here >>

*Please note that each family should use their own discretion in what they deem appropriate content.

Day 3Others

Give of yourself to others. Learn about and embrace someone who is an "other" in your community.

SCHOOL:

DRESS DOWN DAY! Wear red or hearts to show your love of others. We will have a fun assembly in the afternoon with the teen Kindness Ambassadors from the Seven Days organization.

HOME:

Donate or volunteer for others in your community. Read literature that offers a different opinion than your own. Watch a film for historical perspective. Find a way to give of yourself to others.

Day 6GO

Be active inside or outside. A body in motion makes for a happy soul.

SCHOOL:

Join the school community for mass at 8:30 am. All are welcome. We will honor Terri LaManno, St. Elizabeth class of 1975 and May Queen for her class. She was a victim of a hate crime in 2014. More about Terri >>

After mass the students will take a peaceful walk around the campus before returning to classes.

HOME:

Join the STE FAMILY STROLL!

Families or individuals are invited for an evening stroll down the Trolley Trail. Meet at 6 pm in the parking lot at the NE corner of Wornall and Gregory. We plan to walk down to Meyer Boulevard, toward Brookside, and share conversation along the way. Email traciangel22@gmail.com for more information. Maybe you plan for dinner in Brookside at the end of your walk.

Can’t make the group walk? Here are a few ways to “go” and spread kindness on your own.

Day 7Onward

Engage in our community by reaching onward and spreading kindness.

Students will write intentional acts in their planners to carry onward.

Think about how you can make the world a better place through your faith.

Spread kindness like confetti! Download notes to share with family, friends and even strangers you see in the wild! link >>
