Hello families and welcome back to another exciting School Year! This year definitely looks very different. I wanted to take a minute and introduce myself to our families and look forward to providing you resources each month to help foster your child’s social and emotional growth and development.
My name is Lauren Meyer and I have been in LISD for 20 years now, wow time flies! I have two middle school aged children that attend LISD schools. This is my 2nd school year at Steiner Ranch as the School Counselor and I am so excited to be at this most fantastic school!
For this first newsletter, I want to provide you with some information about dealing with COVID-19 and children, as well as getting back into a school routine (even though that is happening within the walls of our homes right now).
Adults and children may handle this challenging time gracefully or not so much....It’s totally normal for all of our feelings to be “all over the place” right now. It’s possible to feel completely in control one moment and then again not so much the next.

Two other resources that are helpful include the CALM app and Headspace app. Both of these apps have specific breathing exercises, relaxing music, mediations, and content for kids and adults. Sleep stories are a family favorite at our house on nights we have a hard time getting to sleep.
