John Steinbeck was an extremely influential figure of the 20th century. He traveled the world, built relationships with important people, published works that still continue to influence the world, all the while maintaining detailed personal journals and extensive long-term letter-writing relationships with various important figures.
The idea for this project is to create an interactive map that illustrates Steinbeck's relationships, travels and his connections to various, important moments in history. This interactive map will include information blurbs, photos, images, videos, etc. that lay out the important events of Steinbeck's life in a chronological order. Eventually, I would like to see digitized images of Steinbeck's journals, letters, and other documents as well as video and audio recordings of Steinbeck discussing various events in his life displayed alongside the map and/or timeline that illustrates the important events of his life.
