Stefano Massei

I am assistant professor (RTDb) at the Department of Mathematics, Università di Pisa, Italy.

My studies focus on structured matrices and tensors and their use for devising efficient numerical methods. More specifically, I am interested in exploiting low-rank approximation in a broad sense (low-rank, hierarchical matrices, tensor formats) for the treatment of linear systems, matrix functions, matrix equations and other linear algebra tasks.

The topics of my work involve applications to model order reduction, discretization of PDEs, uncertainty quantification, complex networks, Markov chains, branching processes, and optimization
