Why Us?
Our program is specifically designed for elementary school children with learning disabilities, ADHD and Autism. S.T.E.A.M Team Camps is managed and run by a team of trained, certified individuals, with many years of experience working with a diverse range of children.
Not only does our program provide children the opportunity to get outdoors, visit educational venues, participate in sporting activities and build critical thinking skills through exploration of S.T.E.A.M, our team also promotes positive peer interactions, team building and social/emotional learning and support.
Our Program offers a way for children to come together, and socialize, have fun and get outside all while in a small group setting.
Structured daily routine (Yet, we understand flexibility is also key to a successful day)
Visual schedules and Visual Prompts
1:4 (teacher:student) ratio
Simple straight forward rules with regard to appropriate behaviour
Consistent leadership, supervision and direction
All staff trained and experienced working with children with learning disabilities, autism and ADHD
To enable elementary school students with diverse needs to build a foundation for personal achievement, by providing an interesting, safe and fun environment.
STEAM Team Camps is now approved by AFU as a special education program and we are able to bill them directly.
CKNW Kids Fund - bursary fund is available for lower income families who are in financial need and who do not have access to other funding options including AFU or DL funds etc... We have a limited amount of funding money available and want to be able to give it to families whom would otherwise not be able to access camps without this bursary option. Partial and full subsidy are dependant on each individual families situation. Email us directly if you would like to apply.
Please Note CKNW funding is currently pending approval for the 2022 Summer programming.
The idea behind S.T.E.A.M education is to prepare students for successful careers in the 21st century. We live in a time of knowledge and information exploration. S.T.E.A.M education seeks to teach students to be creative, innovative, critical thinkers. Its engages students in project based-learning, where they are often given real world engineering challenges. Students must work together to find solutions to these challenges. Students will learn that sometimes failure is part of the process and they will use flexible thinking skills to try again, and improve upon their ideas. If students develop skills needed to think deeply and critically they will be prepared to become the innovators and leaders of our future.
