I work in the Games Industry for more than 20 years - mostly as Producer or Gamedesigner. During my career my daily work became more and more Excel and Powerpoint - JIRA and Confluence - meetings and slack and calls all day long. But when I started to develop games in the 80s - my fun was actually doing all type of stuff my self - hands on: programming, pixel art, animation, audio - I liked tool development and scripting - and special effects. So at some point the urge became serious to really DO something again. Back to the roots. Hands on. So I started a little side project in my spare time. I have a family and kids - that means that spare time is never more than 1 or 2 hours in the evening. Because of the limited time everyday the "little" project turned out to be bigger than expected and my progress was very slow. At the end it took me 2 years to created this little thing.

Originally I wanted to develop a game - but since I decided to learn a new programming language and other stuff, I thought I should have a "little" training project before. So I went for something super simpel : a neat calculator. Not just another calculator and - but a nice calculator with a twist: a Steampunk Calculator. Not just a boring skin - but rotating gears, physical buttons, mechanic, electricity.

2015-Oct I decided to develop for iOs using SWIFT. Two reasons for this: a) me personally I own a lot of Apple devices but never used Android privately. b) Engines like Unity felt a bit to big and overpowered and I wanted to do real programming NOT drag and drop editing. So I thought SWIFT to be a good choice. I bought a MacMini, 3 books about Swift, installed Xcode and jumped into programming fun. Whowho!
