Tanay Panja, Co-Founder and Lead Instructor.
He is a Gold Top 19 award winner at the 2025 USA AI Olympiad and a junior at Huron High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is US AI Ambassador (https://www.usaaio.org/ambassadors). His journey into artificial intelligence began at the MIT BWSI Medlytics program, where he explored the intersection of data science and medicine and served on the BWSI You Belong in STEM Youth Advisory Panel.Tanay leads interdisciplinary projects that combine AI and environmental engineering, including optimizing aeration in wastewater treatment and using microbial fuel cells to generate clean energy. He developed an AI-powered app to screen for dementia using the Clock Drawing Test, modeled the evolving structure of the Hadley Cell using Julia, and created a Shiny R app to visualize phenology data. For these efforts, he was named a two-time National STEM Champion for environmental stewardship and served on the National STEM Challenge Student Council. He was also selected as an international finalist at the Genius Olympiad for his environmental research.
Tanay spent two summers at Dartmouth’s Emerging Diagnostic and Investigative Technologies (EDIT) Lab, where he now mentors high school students in AI. He actively competes in STEM Olympiads and has earned national recognition in chemistry, biology, climate science, and computer science.
